USB flash-drive security risk

If you allow employees to use their own USB flash-drives in your business computers, you could be at risk of a virus attack. 

A security firm has warned that virus writers are increasingly taking advantage of the popularity of USB drives to spread malicious code.  Symantec says it’s similar to the way hackers used to spread their software in the 1980s, when they relied on people accidentally spreading malicious programs by floppy disc.  Now, with most people’s attention on protecting risks from the internet, people don’t think about the dangers of plug in devices.

There are some very simple things that IT experts can do to protect your computers from USB sticks, including setting up antivirus software to automatically scan them and disabling the autoplay function.
